Calcium powder is great for isopods that are still growing.
Isopods need calcium for their exoskeletons but baby isopods struggle with tougher sources of calcium (eggshells, limestone, etc). Calcium powder is our secret to making sure all our babies make it to adulthood!
One pinch of calcium will last you several weeks.
Tip: Put a pinch of calcium in the dry end of your terrarium. Add more when they start consuming it all.
On a budget? Cuttlebone, egg shells, limestone, coral chips, oyster shells are alternative calcium sources. Sterilize, dry, and pulverize whichever you decide to use! Pulverizing the calcium source makes it more accessible to small isopods.
